To add some romance to your morning, consider this light breakfast from Kate & Leopold, a romantic comedy that continues to delight in re-runs on cable and on DVD. Leopold (played by Hugh Jackman) whips up a delectable lite-breakfast for his beloved Kate (played by Meg Ryan). If you don't have mascarpone cream, whipped cream can be substituted, as can fresh plums, sliced peaches or any other fresh berries for strawberries.

Toast With Mascapone Cheese & Strawberries A La Kate & Leopold

Ingredients
4 slices of day-old bread, toasted
10 strawberries, washed and sliced thinly
2 tablespoons of sugar
6 tablespoons mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Icing sugar

Directions
Mix the mascarpone with the vanilla and set aside.
Toast the bread.
Slice the strawberries and place on top of the toast.
Sprinkle sugar on top of the toast with strawberries and place under broiler for 2 minutes until the sugar caramelizes.
Place a dollop of mascarpone cheese on top, dust with icing sugar and serve warm.

Cooking Time 10 minutes.
